Happy Chinese Lunar New Year 2021 to all who are celebrating.
I occasionally use Syndi-Jean for some season greetings. The first time I used her for a Chinese New year greeting was back in 2018 (see right) on Instagram. This year, I wanted to basically update that image but have it tie to “The Dragon’s Eye” script as well. So, I included the sword of Wong Fu Shern that she gets to handle in that story.
At first, I thought about having her hold the sword as if in salute during a competition, in that it wouldn’t be held the way I’ve drawn it. Then, as she isn’t quite the competition type, I figured I let her hold it however she felt comfortable with it, but I also didn’t want it to be too obtrusive.
