Closing out the first year for this new site of Berning Away with a revisited review for one of my traditional movies.
For most of us (not all) we have a list of must-see movies around the end-of-year period. Some would have the likes of It’s A Wonderful Life (1946) or A Christmas Story (1983) as perennial family faves while others may lump in Die Hard (1988) with a Shane Black marathon (Lethal Weapon (1987), The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996), The Last Boy Scout (1991) and Iron Man 3 (2013), maybe… as they all revolve around the Christmas period), and some must have at least one screening of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989).
Anywhere between Christmas and New Year’s Day, there will be a screening of Tokyo Godfathers for me. The story itself starts on Christmas Day and ends by New Year’s Day, so anywhere within that week, out comes the DVD for an annual spin in the DVD player.
